Welcome to our Children's Meeting Page. In August 2000, we had a series of Children's meetings which took place in Maranatha Hall each night from 7.00 pm - 8.00 pm. We had a good number of boys and girls from the villages of Carrowdore and Millisle.
Special speaker to the children for the week was Timothy McCormick from the town of Lisburn some 35 miles away.
Timothy, who is a school teacher, really captured the attention of the children, and spoke God's word in a clear simple way so that each child was left in no doubt that they needed Jesus to be their Saviour.

During the week we had different people taking part, and each person really played their part to make sure the meetings went off smoothly.
Here was a typical meeting :-

1. We sang lots of choruses to get everyone in the mood for praise. Graeme Thompson provided the music on his guitar.

2. Time for prayer - We always open in prayer and ask God to bless our meeting.

3. Quiz Time!!!! This part really got everyone going!!! Boys against the girls, Side A against side B and so on!! At one point we all thought we would need ear plugs!! But the children really enjoyed it and they were being fed the word of God, so God has promised to bless His Word.

4. Memory verse - Each member of the team took it in turns to teach the children a new scripture verse each night. It's amazing how well children can remember things! That is one of the reasons why we held these meetings so that we can teach the children the Word of God at a young age.

5. The Story - Timothy did a brilliant job of captivating the children's (and adults!) attention each night. He told a story each night which even the very youngest in the Hall could understand, but yet he brought the message of the Gospel through beautifully, so no child or adult were left in any doubt that they needed Jesus to be their Saviour.

PRIZES!!!

Well...lots of prizes were on offer during the week...Miniture Heroes, Starbursts, pencils, rulers, bookmarks, rubbers and the star prize of the week for the best boy and the best girl was...Celebrations (a big tub chocolate mini bars!!)

What did the children have to do to win them????? Well...attending each night, singing well, behaving well, remembering the memory verse, answering questions of Timothy's story correctly. Winning the "Celebrations" worked on a points system...points were awarded for attending, bringing a friend, parent, singing and sitting quietly while Timothy told the story each night. Points could be deducted for bad behaviour.....but the children were so good....minus points weren't needed!!

FRIDAY NIGHT

This was a special night when the children brought their parents, relations and friends to hear them singing and to hear the Gospel Message. Timothy really had a brilliant message and was able to leave the adults in no doubt that they too needed to be saved before they could enter Heaven.

We had a fantastic time all week with the children and would like to especially thank the following people :- The children for attending, the Parents for sending the children along, Timothy McCormick, Bill McCormick, Graeme Thompson, Helen Thompson, June Thompson, Marianne Montgomery, Lois McBurney, Jim McCartney, Samuel Wilson, Stephen Jamison, Carol Gray and Jonathan Rea and all the other people who attended. Above all we give GOD the glory and ask that He may use the Word spoken during the week to the Salvation of boys, girls, and adults in the village.

The meetings were so successful that, we decided to hold them every year since August 2000. In August 2001, Timothy again was the speaker at the meetings and in August 2002, we had various different people to speak to the children and young people.
